Kara Breitenbach, Speech Pathologist
A summary of Kara's qualifications and experience:
Kara completed her Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology in 1991 at Illinois State University, USA. She spent her first 10 years consulting with and co-teaching in special needs classrooms and providing services to students in mainstream classes. This was following by 1 year as Senior Speech Pathologist at Oaklynn Specialist School in Aukland, New Zealand before moving to Perth in 2006. Kara then provided specialist Speech Pathology services across child and adult programmes, developing training materials and delivering local, regional and international seminars for the Autism Association of WA. In 2012 she joined us at Skillbuilders Therapy as our Senior Speech Pathologist. Since joining us Kara has attended numerous conferences and courses to further extend her knowledge in all aspects of Paediatric Speech Pathology.
Kara's special interests and passions:
Kara has specialist skills and knowledge in the full range of paediatric areas, with a special interest in developing communication and social skills with children with ASD. Oh, and also cooking, camping and gardening!
Reason for loving what you do:
When we asked Kara the reason she loves her job she said, "I enjoy identifying what makes kids 'tick, developing communication systems based upon this, and then watching them discover how to communicate successfully".
