FAHCSIA- Helping Children with Autism
In 2008 the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) announced $190 million to go towards early intervention funding as part of the federal government’s Helping Children With Autism package (HCWA). One of the initiatives from FaHCSIA is funding of up to $12,000 for therapy services for children aged 0-6 years. In order to be panel services providers therapy agencies are required to fulfil a number of criteria, including evidence-based practices and a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of autism.

FAHCSIA- Better Start Early Intervention
In 2010 this programme was extended to include the Better Start programme. Better Start enables children with a range of disabilities to access funds for therapy under the same funding arrangements. Skillbuilders is pleased to be a provider of the Department of FaHCSIA Early Intervention Service Provider Panel. This means Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy services provided through Skillbuilders are eligible for funding for clients 0-6 years of age. Families can claim up to a maximum of $6000 per year, and up to $12,000 in total before the child reaches his/her 7th birthday. Children on the Better Start programme can also access Physiotherapy services. Visit the Department of FaHCSIA website for more information.

NDIS - National Disability Insurance Scheme and WA NDIS
Skillbuilders is a registered provider for both the NDIS and WANDIS schemes. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the way of providing support for Australians with disability, their families and carers. The NDIS supports people with disability to build skills and capability so they can participate in the community and employment. This includes funding equipment and resources that are considered to be reasonable and necessary to help the participant achieve his/her goals. In order for children to access our therapy services using this funding, we need to provide you with a quote detailing the recommended services and costs for your child. You can phone us anytime to discuss this.

THERAPY PRODUCTS

Funding for Skillbuilders products range is also available to children who are eligible for the HCWA, Better Start, NDIS and WANDIS programmes.

FAHCSIA - For children with Better Start or HCWA funding expenditure of intervention funds is limited to a maximum of $4200 in total ($2100 per financial year). Resources must be selected to meet specific therapy goals, as agreed by the parents and therapist involved with the child. As Skillbuilders is a registered provider we can process claims for families provided we receive a copy of the child's FAHCSIA Letter of Approval and documentation from the child's therapist supporting the need for the items.

NDIS - We are Registered Providers for equipment and resources in all states of Australia. For children funded under the NDIS parents, carers and therapists can generate quotes directly from our website for particular items that they feel would benefit the child. This quote comes directly to your email and you can then take a copy to the NDIS planning meeting for inclusion in the child's plan.

If the child already has resource funding allocated with NDIS it's simple to claim resources from Skillbuilders:

1. Download and complete the NDIS Service Agreement form.

2. Email this to us with the your quote number (Add items to your cart online and submit a quote as above, or print out and attach with your form)

Simple!! Please feel free to phone us if you have questions!

  • Early detection of communication problems is essential to each child’s development, well-being and self-esteem. Children who experience a delay in onset of talking often have difficult to detect middle ear problems, causing hearing loss. They frequently go on to have literacy problems if the underlying language difficulties are not remedied.

If you have a child who has trouble speaking at a developmental level that is right for their age, we can help them develop speech that is clear and understandable.
